UAH DNP Project - “Diagnostic Screening Questionnaire in Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)”

My name is Minnetta Williams. I am a Family Nurse Practitioner that has been working in Women’s Health for 14 years. I am currently enrolled at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program.

I am looking for health care professionals (CRNP, PA, CNM, Dr) in Family Practice or Women’s Health to participate in my Scholarly project. The Scholarly project is titled “Diagnostic Screening Questionnaire in Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS).”  PCOS is the most common cause of menstrual dysfunction and hyperandrogenism. The diagnosis of PCOS can be challenging because of the varying diagnostic criteria and inconsistency of the patients’ complaints. A validated diagnostic screening questionnaire could be very helpful in assisting health care professionals in making a clinical diagnosis of PCOS. The purpose of the study is to have an effective diagnostic screening questionnaire that can be used in any health care professional’s office to assist in diagnosing PCOS.

The scholarly project will consist of the health care professional using the 4 question PCOS screening questionnaire in their clinic for 3-4 months on patients with menstrual problems or PCOS symptoms,  an 8 question pre-test administered via electronic means to the healthcare professional at the beginning of the project  and an 8 question post-test to be administered via electronic means for the healthcare professional at the conclusion of the project. The questionnaire only takes approximately 2-5 minutes to administer and no patient information will be collected during the project.

The benefits of the project will allow healthcare professionals to diagnose PCOS early, so that we can decrease PCOS comorbidities and intervene by educating them on preventive measures and lifestyle changes that will be beneficial to their health.

Please contact me with any questions or concerns and to get started on participating in this project at the contact information provided below.

Thank you for your time and consideration!
