Overview
In this session on COPD, Tyler will introduce underlying mechanisms, risk factors and diagnostic criteria for COPD, including the role and use of spirometry for accurate assessment. The session will apply GOLD 2025 guidelines for the management of COPD, emphasizing pharmacologic treatments, non-pharmacologic treatments/interventions, and the role of Nurse Practitioners in optimizing patient care. Attendees will learn how to develop effective strategies for educating patients about COPD management, focusing on self-management techniques, action plans, and the importance of addressing co-morbidities to improve outcomes.

Tyler is an Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner at Overlake Medical Center & Clinics - Pulmonary Medicine in Bellevue, Washington. He attended Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada where he obtained his Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree in 2010.
