Overview

Risa will review life-limiting diagnoses and prognoses to determine who qualifies for Medical Aid in Dying (MAID). In this session, she will discuss how to evaluate the decision-making capacity of complex patients and when to consider obtaining a psychiatric evaluation. Risa will describe the role of inter-agency cooperation in supporting a patient’s end-of-life choices as well as assessing the needs of families and patients considering MAID or Voluntary Stopping Eatingand Drinking (VSED).

This session includes an open discussion among attendees on when and how to inform patients that Medical Aid in Dying is available.
